Mazo de la Roche (; born Maisie Louise Roche;[citation needed] January 15, 1879 – July 12, 1961) was a Canadian writer who was the author of the Jalna novels, one of the most popular series of books of her time.
Biography
Early life
De la Roche was born in Newmarket, Ontario, north of Toronto, on January 15, 1879.[1][2] She was the only child of William Roche, a salesman, and Alberta (Lundy) Roche, who was a great-great-niece of David Willson, founder of the Children of Peace, through the latter's elder half-brother Hugh L.
Willson.[3]
